SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 1, 2026
Last weekend reminded us that winter is very much still a thing. While we weren’t able to gather in person, we’re grateful for the ways we stayed connected and continued the conversation together.

This Sunday, Lord willing, we’ll be back in the room, warm and dry, as we worship together and continue our series, Learning to Move Again.

This week we’ll turn our attention to the role that systems, structures, and rhythms play in our lives and in our church, not as rigid rules, but as supports that help position us for movement, growth, and faithfulness. How do we create space for what God wants to do in us and through us, together?

We’re looking forward to gathering again and thinking through this next step side by side. We hope to see you Sunday…plus, sloppy joes!

COMMUNITY LUNCH
Join us this Sunday after the service for our monthly Community Lunch in the gym. It’s a relaxed, come-as-you-are gathering where we share a meal, connect across generations, and spend time together as a church family.

We’re planning to serve sloppy joes, scalloped potatoes, and a veggie or salad to round things out. If you bring a dessert to share, we won’t be mad. Whether you’re new to Woodcrest or have been here for years, this is an easy way to build relationships and enjoy unhurried time together.

We’d love to see you there.

LAST SUNDAY ONLINE
Because of the weather, we cancelled in-person services last Sunday, but we still wanted to offer something meaningful for anyone who was looking for Woodcrest that morning.

Damon put together a short online service that included worship music (recorded previously) and a conversation with Matt Gordon that tied into our series, Learning to Move Again, while also giving a preview of where we’re headed next. They talked about how churches find momentum, why unity and trust matter, and how each of us plays a role in moving forward together.

If you missed it, or if you’d like to share it with someone who could use a simple encouragement, you can watch it online here: youtube.com/thewoodcrestchapel

WHERE OUR HOPE RESTS
In recent days, the news from around our country and across the world has been heavy. Stories of conflict, uncertainty, loss, and division can weigh on our hearts and leave us feeling anxious or discouraged. It’s important to acknowledge that weight rather than ignore it. God never asks His people to pretend things aren’t hard. He invites us to bring our fears, our questions, and our grief into His presence, trusting that He sees what we see, and even more.

In moments like these, the church is called to be a different kind of witness. While we stay informed, we do not have to be overwhelmed. Our hope is not anchored to headlines, elections, economies, or global stability, but to the unshakable faithfulness of God. Jesus reminds us that darkness does not get the final word. Light does. As followers of Christ, we respond not with panic, but with prayer; not with withdrawal, but with love; not with fear, but with faithful action. This is our moment to be a calm, compassionate presence in a restless time, serving our neighbors, caring for one another, and holding fast to the promise that God is still at work, even when things feel unsettled.

This week, what might it look like to begin each day by:
• Giving God the first word, before the news or social media. Open His Word and allow His truth to shape your heart.
• Praying and fasting about specific concerns, making it your daily prayer, as Jesus taught us: “Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.”
• Actively looking for ways to love others well, simply telling God you are willing and trusting Him to place opportunities in your path.

And if even one of these feels like too much, tell Jesus that. He does not dismiss our fears. He promises to be with us.

Please join us this week as we boldly approach the Throne of Grace, praying for one another, for our country, and for the world.

Jesus reminds us:
• “In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33)

And He calls us:
• “Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.” (John 13:34–35)

And He invites us to remain close:
• “Abide in Me, and I in you…for apart from Me you can do nothing.” (John 15:4–5)

May we abide in Him, love one another deeply, and trust that He is still at work, bringing light, healing, and hope.
